Your Role:

Livestock Research & Data Analys

As a Livestock Research & Data Analyst at HATO, you play a crucial role in improving animal welfare and performance through in-depth research and strategic collaborations.

You develop a clear vision of the impact of our product portfolio on animal welfare and performance and translate research findings into valuable insights for product development. By working closely withinternal teams and external experts, you ensure innovative solutions that optimise animal welfare and enhance customer satisfaction.

What you’ll do:

  • External research: Develop and execute research projects focused on animal health, welfare, and production efficiency. Represent research activities in (international) collaborations, working groups, and meetings.
  • Research project management: Manage research projects within strict deadlines and budgets, with clear objectives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Data analysis: Analyze complex datasets using statistical software (e.g., R Studio, MS) and data visualization tools.
  • Data interpretation: Translate research findings into clear recommendations, presentations, reports, and dashboards for various stakeholders.
  • Building relationships: Establish and maintain sustainable relationships with external stakeholders, such as genetics experts, end-users, and researchers, to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Proactive collaborations: Actively collaborate with teams within the organisation (Sales, Product Management, Development, and Marketing) to achieve joint research goals and share strategic insights.
  • Industry: Identify trends and opportunities in the sector and contribute to innovation projects such as Precision Livestock Farming and sustainable livestock strategies.
  • Data analysis and interpretation: Analyze research data and translate it into concrete recommendations for product development and optimisation.
  • Inspire and inform: Share research findings through internal and external presentations to keep colleagues and external partners informed and inspired.

What we are looking for: 

  • Completed animal-related HBO or university education (e.g., Animal Sciences, Animal Management, or Animal Husbandry).
  • Independence in selecting, setting up, and conducting external research in barns.
  • Good command of English and Dutch; both spoken and written.
  • Experience with data processing, analysis, and presentation in MS and R Studio, and writing research reports.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex data clearly and simply.
  • Proactive work attitude with a focus on results and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of and affinity with improving animal welfare and performance in the agricultural sector is a plus.
