For 26 years, the Lodberg family has been a respected name in Denmark’s poultry farming industry. Since 1998, their farm has evolved into a thriving family business. Today, Jorgen Lodberg and his son lead the operation, combining experience with a forward-thinking approach to ensure continued success. Their three specialized facilities have built a reputation for quality, innovation, and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
The Lodberg farm’s operations are divided across three facilities, each designed to meet specific needs:
The Lodbergs’ relationship with Landmeco spans more than 20 years. This partnership has been built on trust, mutual understanding, and the reliability of Landmeco’s equipment and services. According to Jorgen, "Landmeco makes communication easy and provides dependable products." Their collaboration has been a crucial element in running the farm efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and welfare.
Lighting is an integral part of chick rearing at the Lodberg farm. In partnership with HATO, the family has implemented a carefully designed lighting regime tailored to the chicks' growth stages. Initially, young chicks are exposed to only two hours of light per day, gradually increasing to nine hours as they grow. This gradual approach aligns with natural cycles, minimizing stress and fostering healthier development.
The lighting uses a 3000K warm white spectrum, closely mimicking natural sunlight. This helps create a comfortable environment while supporting behavioral training. For example, during bedtime, ceiling lights are turned off first, guiding chicks toward the aviary system. Ten minutes later, the aviary lights are switched off, encouraging a consistent sleep routine. This method reduces stress and ensures the chicks rest properly, leading to healthier outcomes.
The Lodbergs remain committed to innovation and sustainable practices. Future plans include exploring methods to further enhance poultry welfare and environmental sustainability. Strengthening partnerships with trusted collaborators like Landmeco and HATO is key to achieving these goals. By combining tradition with a forward-looking approach, the Lodbergs aim to maintain their position as leaders in the industry.
For the Lodbergs, poultry farming is more than a livelihood—it’s a commitment to excellence that spans generations. Their dedication to animal welfare, product quality, and continuous improvement has established them as a benchmark in Denmark’s poultry industry. With an eye on the future, they remain poised to continue shaping the industry for years to come.
