Aquaculture demands consistency. But above‑tank lighting often brings the opposite: harsh transitions, uneven distribution, shadows, and systems that don’t hold up in marine environments. NIMBUS is HATO’s answer: a new above‑water luminaire designed to create a stable, welfare‑friendly light layer over tanks and raceways.

Why we built NIMBUS

In hatcheries, nurseries, and tank-based systems, fish welfare and performance are closely tied to the quality of the lighting environment. Yet many farms still struggle with:

• Stress caused by poor distribution, shadows, or abrupt light changes
• Suboptimal outcomes when light levels aren’t correct or consistent
• Harsh transitions (no soft start) that can disrupt more natural behaviour
• Marine environments accelerating corrosion and shortening fixture lifetime

Lighting strategies shouldn’t rely on manual guesswork. NIMBUS is positioned for DALI control, enabling precise automated lighting strategies and more predictable outcomes over time.

4) Built for real marine conditions, without the installation headache

Marine suitability isn’t optional. NIMBUS is positioned around corrosion resistance, low maintenance, and easier handling, including a lightweight aluminium approach and a pole‑mounted design for simpler installation.

 5) Lower operational cost focus

With high‑efficiency LED positioning and a focus on reducing wasted output (including focused downward output to reduce light pollution), NIMBUS is framed to support both performance and operating efficiency.
