HATO Enhances Dairy Efficiency at Stadnina Koni Nowe Jankowice

In the heart of Poland, Stadnina Koni Nowe Jankowice has long been known for its dedication to high-quality dairy production. Known for its commitment to animal welfare the farm faced a familiar challenge: how to maintain consistent production and herd health throughout the year, especially during the darker, colder months.

In late 2024, the farm made a bold move: investing in Agricultural Lighting’s Rudax system. What followed was a transformation that not only improved productivity but also redefined what’s possible in modern dairy operations.

The Challenge: Battling Seasonal Setbacks

Like many dairy farms in temperate climates, Stadnina Koni Nowe Jankowice struggled with seasonal fluctuations. During winter, shorter daylight hours disrupted cows’ natural rhythms, leading to:

  • Irregular heat cycles
  • Decreased fertility
  • A noticeable drop in milk yield, typically around 2 kg per cow per day

Despite the farm’s best efforts, these issues persisted year after year, affecting both profitability and herd well-being.

The Solution: Intelligent Lighting for Healthier Herds

In search of a sustainable solution, the farm turned to HATO Agricultural Lighting, a company renowned for its science-backed, animal-centric lighting systems.
In November 2024, the RUDAX lighting system, paired with the Hato Light Manager was installed in one of the farm’s main barns housing 150 milking cows.

The system was designed not just to illuminate, but to mimic natural daylight patterns, supporting cows’ biological rhythms and promoting hormonal balance.
The investment, priced at €25,000, was made with confidence and the results soon justified the decision.

The Results: Measurable Gains, Rapid ROI

Within weeks of installation, the farm began to see tangible improvements:

Healthier, More Fertile Cows

Cows exhibited more regular estrous cycles, a clear sign that their internal clocks were better aligned. This led to improved fertility rates and more predictable breeding schedules.

Stable and Increased Milk Production

Most notably, the usual winter dip in milk yield did not occur. Instead, cows maintained their output—and even exceeded it. On average, each cow produced 1.5 kg more milk per day, translating into an annual financial gain of approximately €41,000.

Fast Payback

With such gains, the farm achieved a return on investment in just 220 days—a remarkably short period for agricultural technology.

Scaling Up: A Bright Future Ahead

Encouraged by the success, Stadnina Koni Nowe Jankowice didn’t stop at one barn. The farm has since expanded the Rudax system to three additional barns, ensuring that more of its herd benefits from optimized lighting conditions.

This expansion not only stabilised milk production across the entire operation but also reinforced the farm’s reputation as a forward-thinking leader in Polish dairy farming.

The Bigger Picture: Lighting Up Polish Dairy Farming

Poland is one of Europe’s top dairy producers, with a sector that’s rapidly modernizing. As farms adopt precision agriculture and smart technologies, lighting is emerging as a key factor in herd management.

Stadnina Koni Nowe Jankowice’s story is a powerful example of how targeted innovation can deliver real-world results, improving animal health, increasing output, and boosting profitability.

A Testament to Innovation

The journey of Stadnina Koni Nowe Jankowice is a testimonial to the power of innovation in agriculture. By embracing HATO’s lighting technology, the farm not only solved long-standing challenges but also set a new standard for dairy excellence in Poland.

For farms seeking to overcome seasonal hurdles, improve herd health, and enhance productivity, HATO Agricultural Lighting offers a proven, scalable solution; one that pays off quickly and continues to deliver value year after year.

Recommendations for Dairy Farmers

  • Consider lighting as a strategic investment, not just a utility.
