How HATO’s Insights are Helping NET-ISI Transform Poultry Farming

At HATO, we’re driven by one mission: transforming poultry farming with smarter lighting solutions that benefit both animal welfare and farm productivity.

A recent success story from the Aviagen CFT meeting highlights how our HATO Insights program is making a difference. In partnership with NET-ISI, we worked closely with poultry professionals to demonstrate how optimized lighting can lead to better farm outcomes.

Tackling industry challenges with the right lighting

Lighting is more than just illumination—it’s a crucial component of poultry farming. When managed correctly, it can enhance bird welfare, support growth, and lead to operational savings.

However, many farms struggle with issues like poor feed conversion ratios, irregular sexual maturity, and behaviors like pecking or piling. Most of these challenges arise from outdated or inadequate lighting. That’s where HATO Insights steps in, offering innovative solutions to address these common hurdles.

A knowledge exchange in Cappadocia: Lighting as the key

Our journey took us to the stunning region of Cappadocia, Turkey, where we joined forces with NET-ISI to engage with Aviagen TMEA poultry professionals. The picturesque setting was the perfect backdrop for insightful discussions about lighting optimization. During a training session with experts from the broiler breeder sector, I had the chance to present the 8 Key Aspects of Optimal Broiler Breeder Lighting.

“HATO's participation during our meeting was extremely useful in updating the team on light theory and new technologies, like HATO-ONE, for optimizing poultry house lighting.

In addition to light intensity, customers now ask about color and temperature of the light. HATO shared valuable knowledge on these aspects and introduced tools to improve light quality. We thank HATO for this opportunity and look forward to future collaboration.”

- Paulo Paz, Technical Service Manager at Aviagen

The session sparked enthusiastic conversations on everything from color lighting to flicker, light distribution, and installation techniques. Farmers openly shared their on-the-ground experiences, deepening their understanding of how different lighting conditions can impact bird behavior and overall farm performance.

One of the key highlights was HATO's research on color lighting, including how UVA light improves development and  behavior on layers and breeders, and the calming effects of blue light on chickens.

“Thanks to our collaboration with HATO, Net Isı had the privilege to participate in Aviagen’s Seminar, where we gained valuable insights into the latest lighting technologies. HATO’s advanced tools have helped us improve poultry lighting and enhance animal welfare. This experience strengthened our partnerships and opened the door for future innovations. We are grateful to HATO for this opportunity and look forward to continued collaboration.”

Enter HATO-ONE: Revolutionizing lighting analysis

Another highlight of the session was introducing HATO-ONE, a game-changer in the way we analyze lighting. This advanced tool allows farmers to:

  • Measure all key lighting aspects with precision
  • Gain detailed, actionable insights to optimize lighting conditions
  • Address persistent challenges like flicker and outdated lighting
  • Reduce stress-related behaviors in birds
  • Improve overall farm efficiency and bird welfare

The response from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive - many were eager to adopt HATO-ONE after seeing how it could directly enhance their operations. Farmers recognized its potential to make a significant difference in both productivity and animal care.

The power of collaboration: A brighter path forward

This event was a great example of what collaboration can achieve. Working together with NET-ISI and industry professionals, we’re not just offering solutions—we’re empowering farmers to make meaningful changes that positively impact their operations. Optimized lighting means better feed conversion, reduced stress in birds, and healthier, more productive farms.

Cappadocia wasn’t just about sharing knowledge; it was a reminder of how important lighting has become in modern poultry farming. By providing the right tools and expertise, we’re helping farmers make smarter, more informed decisions that lead to real, measurable improvements.

At HATO, we are dedicated to paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for poultry farming. Our partnership with NET-ISI exemplifies our commitment to transforming the industry through collaboration and innovation. We are enthusiastic about continuing this journey, supporting farms globally to thrive through superior lighting and strategic partnerships.
